This photo gallery is a personal iconographic sample of my main fields of interest : European Amphibians, Reptiles and Dragonflies. "My" Europe, arbitratry established for reasons of convenience only, is the geographical Europe, former Soviet states excluded, as well as Asian and African islands politically belonging to European countries. This definition was instrumental to draw up the European species list. It does not limit the origin of the photos I selected. The Turkish Red Damsel (Ceriagrion georgifreyi) for instance is included in the European list because of sightings from Zakynthos, Corfu and Thassos, but I have no problem using pictures from Turkey.
Alien species are included in the list if the species has established a least one breeding population with a sufficiently large range (more than 5X5 km), e.g. African Clawed Frog (Xenopus laevis) in France, or for a sufficiently long period (more than 50 years), e.g. Algerian Whip Snake (Hemorrhois algirus) in Malta.
